Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Group Leader to lead our newly created Analysis Capability Group (ACG) within the Computational Engineering Division (CED) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). The successful candidate will provide technical, strategic, and administrative leadership to the group, ensuring the delivery of high-quality projects and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to group team members, ensuring the successful delivery of projects and programs.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the group's objectives, aligning with the Laboratory's mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with programmatic personnel and external sponsors to ensure current and future technical and staffing needs are being addressed.
  • Lead and manage the group's technical and administrative activities, ensuring compliance with Laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other groups within CED and the Laboratory, promoting collaborative efforts and strategic partnerships.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Proven advanced ability to lead and promote technical projects.
  • Significant experience and advanced knowledge of engineering analysis in areas such as structural mechanics, heat transfer, and radiation sciences.
  • Experience applying ParaDyn and/or Diablo software and familiarity with other developmental, government, or commercial tools.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and present and explain technical information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience in nuclear weapon system design, requirements, and materials.
  • Significant experience building, directing, and leading cohesive project teams.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory management and structure, including supervision, budget, diversity, and equal opportunity policies and processes.

Security Clearance

This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at time of hire.
