Your Role
As an Automation Systems Engineer II, you will play a crucial role in the design and implementation of control systems. Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with project managers and estimators to evaluate potential projects and prepare proposals.
- Interpreting technical diagrams and documentation while engaging with clients to ascertain their objectives.
- Designing the architecture and communication protocols for control system components.
- Working closely with clients and stakeholders to define and document system functionalities.
- Creating Bills of Materials (BOMs), Input/Output lists, and specifications for control panels.
- Leading small-scale projects, including the development of PLC and HMI templates.
- Programming PLCs using Ladder Logic, Function Block, and other programming languages.
- Designing Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
- Formulating hardware and software testing plans, including simulation logic for PLC and HMI systems.
- Developing training materials and plans for operational and maintenance staff.
- Coordinating with installation management to ensure compliance with documented processes.
- Conducting system tests to verify functionality and program performance.
- Troubleshooting issues during startup related to documentation discrepancies or client modifications.
- Diagnosing and resolving software and hardware interface challenges.
- Providing training to clients on the operation of customized system integration software.
- Collaborating with software and application vendors for problem resolution.
- Addressing design challenges as needed.
- Responding to service calls for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Mentoring and training junior team members.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in Industrial Controls within the architectural, engineering, or construction sectors.
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in PLC programming, particularly with Allen Bradley systems.
- Familiarity with networking protocols such as Ethernet/IP.
- Experience with Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
Preferred Qualifications
- 6 years of experience in a similar industry.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and other Autodesk software.

Work Environment
