Position Overview:
Join our dedicated team at DePaul Senior Living Community as a part-time Medication Administration Technician for the evening shift.


Under the supervision of the Supervisor-In-Charge, the Medication Administration Technician is responsible for administering prescribed medications and treatments to residents in a safe and timely manner, adhering to the guidelines established by DePaul Adult Care Communities and New York state regulations.

In addition to medication administration, the Technician will assist with residents' personal care as outlined in the Resident Care Assistant (RCA) role when not engaged in medication duties.

The compensation for this position is $17.30 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:

- Administer medications and treatments to residents accurately and promptly as prescribed by healthcare providers.

- Document medication administration and treatments in accordance with established policies and procedures.

- Observe and record residents' responses (both therapeutic and adverse) to medications and treatments.

- Maintain an organized, clean, and secure medication cart and medication storage area.

- Ensure timely ordering of medications and supplies to meet residents' needs.

- Follow facility and pharmacy protocols for ordering, returning, and discontinuing medication orders.


- Prepare medications for residents who will be away from the facility for extended periods or arrange for pharmacy delivery.

Ensure accurate processing of physician orders and transcription to the Medication Administration Record.

- Maintain accountability for the security of controlled substances and accuracy in record-keeping.

- Implement appropriate infection control measures when preparing and administering medications, adhering to universal precautions at all times.


- Perform resident care tasks as described in the RCA position in response to residents' needs or as assigned.

Participate in the required twelve (12) hours of medication in-service education annually.

- Contribute to creating a therapeutic and homelike environment for residents.

Essential Qualifications:
- Proficient communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. without mechanical assistance.

- Capable of visually observing residents and audibly responding to call bells and emergency systems.

- Ability to assist residents through physical movements such as turning, stooping, bending, and stretching.

- Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods.

- Proficient in using medical equipment (e.g., sphygmomanometer, Accucheck, thermometer).

- Ability to recognize and respond to emergencies, including evacuating residents and visitors in case of fire.

- Ability to maneuver a medication cart down hallways without assistance.

Required Qualifications:
- Successful completion of the Medication Technician training provided by DePaul within 90 days of completing the Medication Skills Checklist. *Completion of the Medication Skills Checklist is mandatory before administering any medications.

- A solid understanding of resident care, particularly for the geriatric and adult special care needs population.

- Minimum age of eighteen (18) years.

- Required references and a criminal background check.

- Good standing with the Healthcare Personnel Registry.

- Compliance with annual Tuberculosis (TB) testing and Annual Health Assessment as per New York State Regulations.
