The Director of Infection Prevention and Control plays a pivotal role in leading and guiding the Infection Prevention and Control Program. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Quality and Patient Safety, this position is responsible for the development, execution, and continuous assessment of the program to ensure the highest standards of patient safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Infection Prevention and Control initiatives.
- Ensure alignment with organizational goals and adherence to State and Federal regulations.
- Oversee the management of the Infection Prevention and Control team.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Master's degree is preferred.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is mandatory.
Experience:
- A minimum of 7 years of clinical experience in acute care settings, with at least 5 years focused on infection prevention and control.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in infection prevention, including policy development and implementation.
- Proficiency in utilizing electronic data systems for infection control analytics.
Knowledge and Skills:
- In-depth understanding of infection surveillance and prevention methodologies.
- Familiarity with infection-related quality metrics and national measure development processes.
- Expertise in infection data reporting requirements from regulatory bodies.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis tools.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to foster strong relationships with stakeholders.
This role is critical in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients through effective infection prevention strategies and compliance with healthcare standards.
