Job Type: Full Time, Part Time, or Weekends

Current Openings: 2nd SHIFT 3PM-11PM

Compensation:

  • Base wage of $17.00 per hour for Level 1
  • Base wage of $18.00 per hour for Level 2
  • Additional $1 shift differential for 2nd shift
  • Automatic wage increase of $0.50 after 6 months, and $0.25 after 1 year

Role Responsibilities

The Residential Treatment Specialist is tasked with providing daily direct care and supervision for children facing challenges due to trauma and associated behavioral health issues.

This role involves ensuring that the children's fundamental life, educational, and emotional needs are met.

As a mentor and role model, the Specialist will demonstrate effective social and relationship-building skills through a trauma-informed care approach known as the Sanctuary Model, which emphasizes:

  • Open communication
  • Democracy
  • Non-violence
  • Social learning
  • Social responsibility
  • Growth and change

CHNK Behavioral Health is uniquely certified by the Sanctuary Institute to implement this model and has achieved recognition for its LGBTQ competencies.

Qualifications

Level 1 Residential Treatment Specialist

  • A High School diploma is required; a Bachelor's degree in a human service field is preferred.
  • Must be at least 19 years old with one year of demonstrated experience working with youth, preferably in a residential setting.
  • Ability to build and maintain nurturing relationships with emotionally disturbed children.
  • Proficient in completing written documentation.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and insurance, along with reliable transportation.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of clients and staff.
  • Willingness to share meal times with clients regularly.

Level 2 Residential Treatment Specialist

  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred, ideally in Psychology, Social Work, or Human Services, or equivalent experience.
  • High School diploma plus 2 years of relevant experience in Mental/Behavioral Health or Developmental Disabilities may be considered.
  • Associates Degree or 2 years of college coursework in relevant fields plus one year of relevant experience is also acceptable.

Key Duties

Both Level 1 and Level 2 Specialists will:

  • Complete Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training.
  • Participate in Therapeutic Individualized Phases to Success (TIPS) training.
  • Respond therapeutically to aggressive behaviors and manage crisis situations effectively.
  • Provide direct care supervision during daily routines, assist with educational tasks, and supervise special events.
  • Document incidents accurately and cooperate with team members to achieve treatment goals.
  • Attend required meetings and training sessions.
  • Assist in the transportation of residents as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position requires the ability to stand, walk, and communicate effectively. The employee may occasionally lift or move items up to 100 pounds and must be able to adapt to various indoor and outdoor conditions.
