Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Civil/Structural Engineer to join our team at Ulteig. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading complex projects and providing technical oversight to junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead bridge/structural related projects, utilizing your expertise and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Act as a technical leader and resource for other engineers, applying advanced techniques, theories, procedures, and practices to complete engineering tasks.
  • Work closely with project managers, senior engineers, and other team members to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Develop plans, specifications, and observation reports to ensure accuracy and adherence to sound engineering practice.
  • Provide recommendations for alterations to development and designs to improve quality.
  • Perform and/or check detailed design work and load rating calculations.
  • Communicate with clients to ensure we are meeting their needs.
  • Participate in contract bidding and administration.
  • Develop client relationships and participate in marketing, sales, business development, and proposal development.
  • Be technically involved with the resolution of design problems, including performing field investigations/observations.
  • Participate or lead team development/recruiting activities.
  • Participate in community and professional development activities.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Master's degree preferred.
  • PE license required.
  • Minimum of 8 years engineering experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with or for infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with design specifications, including AAHSTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, is preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation.
  • Experience using bridge/structural design software, such as OpenBridge Designer, LEAP Bridge, or RISA-3D/STAAD, is preferred.
  • Experience in bridge load ratings and AASHTOWare Bridge rating BrR.
  • Maintains positive client relationships.
  • Independently completes assigned tasks.
  • Actively manages individual workload.
  • Highly driven toward team success and professional growth.
  • Effectively assists in training and mentoring team members.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), additional software knowledge depending on specialization.
  • National Highway Institute (NHI) coursework (Fracture Critical, Underwater Bridge Inspection, etc.) certification is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Superior interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in the US.
  • Pass pre-employment substance abuse screening and background check.
