The Department of Surgery at the Richmond VA Medical Center is seeking a skilled and experienced Optometrist to join our team. As a Staff Optometrist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in an ambulatory care setting.
Responsibilities- Evaluate clinical performance and provide guidance to Ocular Disease residents and senior students.
- Resolve complaints from employees, Veterans, families, and others.
- Lead a team of clinicians, technicians, and administrative personnel.
- Create and maintain a patient-centered care environment.
- Perform complete and thorough optometric exams and complete all clinical documentation requirements.
- Exercises independent professional judgment in diagnosing complex ophthalmic conditions and planning treatment programs.
- Refers patients with multiple health problems to other providers within the facility and the VISN.
- Consults with physicians and others.
- United States Citizenship.
- Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited school or college of optometry.
- Licensed to practice optometry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Graduation from a formally accredited school or college of optometry.
- Completion of an ACOE accredited postgraduate optometric residency training.
- Current, active, and unrestrictive license to practice optometry in the USA.
Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Telework: Not available. Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
