Job OverviewPOSITION:

The Mobile Blood Collection Specialist, operating under the guidance of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, is tasked with delivering clinical pre-analytical laboratory services to our clients and patients in a mobile environment. This role requires the completion of assigned routes in a safe and efficient manner while adhering to all established policies and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operates a vehicle to transport to client locations, primarily healthcare facilities, as directed by the company dispatcher.

• Sets up phlebotomy equipment at the patient's location to collect samples as requested by healthcare providers.

• Ensures accurate patient identification prior to specimen collection.

• Collects, labels, processes, and delivers specimens obtained from patients with precision.

• Repackages equipment and all necessary specimens for timely delivery.

• Maintains regular communication with the dispatcher to update on status and location.

• Adheres strictly to Universal Precautions to mitigate risks associated with blood-borne pathogens and infectious diseases.

• Upholds required certifications, health standards, and operational protocols.

• Keeps the work area organized and sanitized.

• Observes all safety protocols consistently.

• Reports any unsafe conditions or incidents encountered during work.

• Monitors inventory levels of supplies and reports shortages or expired items.

• Arrives at work punctually, maintaining professional appearance and identification while at client facilities.

• Accurately tracks hours worked and submits records as instructed.

• Manages assigned shifts, including meal breaks.

• Follows all procedures for specimen preservation, patient preparation, and specimen management as outlined.

• Utilizes only approved documentation and makes record adjustments only as per authorized instructions.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

• Exhibits excellent communication and interpersonal skills tailored to the served population, including pediatric and geriatric patients.

• Treats all patients and clients with respect, dignity, and confidentiality, acknowledging their rights.

• Demonstrates reliable attendance.

• Holds a current, valid State phlebotomy license (if applicable).

• Possesses a valid State Driver's license, car insurance, and a good driving record, along with a reliable vehicle suitable for daily driving tasks.

• Proficient in venipuncture and skin puncture techniques using both vacutainer and syringe methods.

• Knowledgeable about laboratory operations and standards.

• Maintains sterile and sanitary conditions to prevent contamination.
