The Hydraulic Test Engineer is responsible for designing, establishing, and executing both laboratory and field evaluations of innovative and existing hydraulic products. This role involves translating technical directives from supervisors and product design teams into actionable data relevant to specific engineering tasks. Additionally, the engineer will oversee the efforts of contract personnel, co-ops, and technicians in data collection and testing procedures.

*Key Responsibilities*

Hydraulic Testing:

  • Collaborate with current staff and industry specialists to gain expertise in hydraulic testing, data collection, and analysis techniques.
  • Set up testing instrumentation and configure data acquisition systems tailored for specific evaluations.
  • Assess the performance, longevity, and dependability of hydraulic components and systems across all Bobcat machinery.
  • Conduct independent full vehicle field evaluations by operating various Bobcat equipment.
  • Analyze hydraulic schematics, testing standards, and other technical documents to facilitate effective testing.
  • Perform laboratory endurance assessments on hydraulic components.
  • Conduct data analysis and provide technical guidance on hydraulic testing processes.
  • Draft technical documentation for testing procedures and report findings effectively.

Additional Duties:

  • Conduct structural fatigue life assessments using internal life prediction methodologies.
  • Execute laboratory fatigue tests on components, utilizing damage comparison tools.
  • Develop product specifications and performance evaluations for marketing and sales purposes.
  • Prepare and continuously review products for durability assessments at testing facilities.
  • Conduct cooling performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate testing activities and communicate progress with product design engineers.
  • Provide recommendations regarding product design, materials, or specifications based on testing outcomes and sound engineering principles.
  • Collaborate with external testing laboratories.

*Qualifications*

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering - General, Mechanical, or Agricultural.
  • Experience: 0-2+ years in a relevant field.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Strong practical mechanical and engineering skills with a readiness to apply them.
  • Experience in operating, repairing, and maintaining equipment.
  • Familiarity with testing and validation methodologies is preferred.
  • Understanding of the principles and design of company products.
  • Commitment to promoting a safe work environment in all activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Able to work effectively within a team setting.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
