Job Title: Deputy Program Manager
Job Summary:
Science Systems and Applications, Inc. is seeking a Deputy Program Manager to assist the Program Manager in managing efforts supporting the US Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation and Science Center data center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Program Manager in overall data center operations, maintenance, and approximately 350 integrated staff, to include 24x7 operations staff.
- Direct, monitor, and control all aspects of task performance to ensure that all projects are accomplished within the prescribed schedule and cost parameters.
- Interface with customers to skillset requirements need to support task orders.
- Oversee project operational requirements and process improvements.
- Manage program performance and performance data reports.
- Work with contracts and finance to monitor the financial health of the program and identify any financial or programmatic risks.
- Monitor utilization and effectiveness of subcontractor partners in the performance of the work.
- Coordinate with the contracts department to provide reports to the CO and COR as needed.
- Mitigate risks and resolve conflicts of interest on the program.
Requirements:
- BS/BA in physical science, math, engineering, computer science, remote sensing, earth science, or related field.
- 10+ years of professional experience in managing personnel involved in science, engineering, and technology support on government contracts.
- Ability to manage large multidisciplinary teams and drive innovation and collaboration.
- Must have experience in one or more technical areas: systems engineering and architecture, land remote sensing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, large data management, data center with ingest, archive, and distribution of products.
- Strong understanding of contract financial analysis and compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
Desired Qualifications:
- Project Management Professional, PMP certification.
- Experience in NASA, USGS, NOAA, or similar research institution environment.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- Experience managing data center operations.
- Familiarity with Cloud migration and Cloud Maintenance.
