UPMC is seeking highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientists and Medical Laboratory Technicians to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for performing laboratory testing, analyzing results, and providing accurate diagnoses to patients. Key Responsibilities- Conduct laboratory testing, including routine and advanced procedures
- Analyze test results and provide accurate diagnoses to patients
- Develop and implement new laboratory testing methods and procedures
- Train and orient new employees, students, and residents
- Interact with laboratory customers, including physicians and other healthcare professionals
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in a laboratory science or a related field, or an Associate degree in a laboratory science with certification
- Experience in a clinical laboratory setting, preferably in a hospital laboratory
- Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory information systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
We prefer candidates with:
- ASCP categorical certification
- Experience in high-complexity testing
- Knowledge of laboratory information systems and medical terminology
