Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Public Safety Officer to join our team at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. As a Public Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce hospital security regulations and protocols to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to identify and report potential hazards or unusual occurrences.
  • Provide protective services and response to protect people and property of the hospital.
  • Assist with the day-to-day operation of the Department.
QualificationsEducation
  • Minimum of a high school diploma required.
  • A strong educational background in Criminal Justice or a related field is preferred.
Experience
  • No experience required, but 1-3 years of security or related experience is preferred.
License/Certifications
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver's license or a valid license from the state in which the employee resides.
  • Must submit to and pass an annual criminal background check.
  • Must obtain prior to the end of the training period and maintain throughout employment: AVADE Workplace Violence Prevention & De-Escalation Training.
  • Must obtain within the first 90 days of employment and maintain throughout employment: International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Basic Officer Certification, First Aid/CPR/AED, FEMA IC-100, ICS-200, and ICS-700.
  • Must obtain within one year of employment and maintain throughout employment: Handcuffing Training and Pepper Spray Defense Training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Massachusetts License to Carry Class A Licensure.
