Faculty Position in Chemistry and Biochemistry

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UC Santa Barbara is seeking a highly creative and productive individual with research and teaching interests in any area of chemistry or biochemistry. We are looking for a candidate who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong and creative research program, contribute to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and participate in university service and professional activities. We are particularly interested in candidates who can leverage synergies within and between the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and collaborative departments and research units.

UC Santa Barbara is home to the NSF BioPACIFIC Materials Innovation Platform, the nation's first NSF Quantum Foundry, and one of the top NSF Materials Research Science & Engineering Centers in the country. We are seeking new colleagues to help establish research programs and collaborative partnerships in areas such as green chemistry, energy and sustainability, functional materials, machine learning, and synthetic biology.

The Banneker Initiative, a special faculty recruitment initiative, will recruit scholars, scientists, and engineers whose disciplinary and interdisciplinary work would take place within the community of concerns exemplified by Benjamin Banneker's intellectual, ethical, and social commitments as an African American scientist. Applicants may be eligible to be fellows in the Benjamin Banneker Initiative, which will receive funding for cohort building and professional development activities.
