Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Librarian Adjunct Instructor to join our team at the Contra Costa Community College District. As a key member of our library faculty, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional reference and instructional services to our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver library instructional efforts for campus-based and distance education
  • Provide reference service and instruction on the use of print and electronic information resources
  • Participate in collection development and implementation of print and electronic information resources and services
  • Collaborate with faculty on assignments, collection needs, and integration of information literacy into the college curriculum
  • Maintain current knowledge in the field of Library Science and Information Management
  • Participate in department, college committees, and College's shared governance process
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Master's in library science, library and information science, or the equivalent
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff, and faculty
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills and the proven ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and administration
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience delivering student-centered reference and instructional services in an academic library environment
  • Experience using and teaching the use of a library discovery platform and a broad range of research databases
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
