Job Summary

PACCAR is seeking a highly skilled Vehicle Properties Supervisor to lead a team of technical engineers in the Vehicle Integration Department. The successful candidate will drive a systems approach for vehicle development, focusing on high-level vehicle performance and functionality needs. This leadership role requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to promote growth in systems thinking, toolsets, and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the Vehicle Definition Department, championing technical processes and standard methodologies.
  • Develop and champion system engineering principles and practices to global teams of mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
  • Coordinate with Product Planning to understand customer requirements and champion roadmaps by building business plans and soliciting technologies with cross-functional global teams.
  • Host global alignment reviews of vehicle domain roadmaps with executive engineering leadership of product development.
  • Lead technical teams responsible for defining vehicle-level requirements and translating these requirements to system and component design teams.
  • Lead building and maintaining vehicle-level simulation models to enable system optimization.
  • Support and provide feedback during technical, concept, and final design reviews.
  • Lead migration and creation of requirements into IBM Doors Next Generation to improve consumption of requirements to cross-division and cross-discipline teams.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering fields, particularly in the automotive industry.
  • BS in Engineering or related field required; MS in Engineering or related field and PE license preferred.
  • 5+ years of leadership and team building experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts or data in a simple yet accurate manner to executive leaders.
  • Ability to promote and gain support for continued growth in systems thinking, toolsets, and processes.
  • Ability to be a change agent of the organization.
  • Presentation skills for technical or executive audiences.
  • Development of program-wide schedules, milestones, and action plans.
  • Focus on interdepartmental communication.
  • Experience in authoring technical requirements (S.M.A.R.T.).
  • Requires independent judgment and effective decision-making skills.
  • Experience in IBM Doors Next Gen or requirements management databases.
  • Understanding of Mathematical modeling systems such as: Mathworks Simulink/Stateflow/Matlab, AVL Cruise, GT Power, etc.
