Oncology Patient Specialist 3

The Oncology Patient Specialist 3 plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care by identifying customer needs and exceeding expectations. This position is responsible for complex Oncology scheduling and services within the Cancer Center, ensuring accurate insurance information and authorization/referral requirements. The specialist will also counsel patients on financial liability, utilizing available financial counseling tools to maximize reimbursement for patient services.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough patient interviews to gather information about customer complaints in a courteous and professional manner.
- Provide direct and honest feedback to team members in a non-punishing manner, promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
- Anticipate and prepare for peak work conditions, identifying resources to resolve potential issues.
- Support scheduling activities by verifying insurance information and submitting necessary documents.
- Select the most effective communication method for each audience, considering the type of message and intended outcome.
- Respond promptly to daily problems, delivering high-quality work with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Report safety hazards and take appropriate action to protect the environment and guests.
- Explain insurance benefits and patient liability to patients, using clear and concise communication methods.
- Identify and communicate payroll authorization and referral requirements.
Experience: 4 years of healthcare patient access experience, healthcare revenue cycle experience, or related oncology medical office experience.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
