Position Overview:
Support the daily logistics operations of a multi-temperature, technology-driven facility with an emphasis on safety and operational efficiency.
People or Process Responsibility: Yes
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
- Implement company processes effectively to achieve 100% compliance.
- Meet or exceed annual performance objectives, including on-time dispatches, off-load rates, labor costs, and product loss and damage.
- Contribute to budget development.
- Assist in formulating and executing the daily operational plan, including equipment maintenance and driver scheduling to fulfill customer delivery requirements.
- Promote a workplace culture that enhances employee involvement, morale, and engagement.
- Provide training and development opportunities for drivers and support staff.
- Oversee food safety practices in alignment with company and customer standards.
- Ensure adherence to company, state, federal, and local policies, regulations, DOT requirements, and safety/health standards.
- Collaborate with the Transportation Manager to oversee route planning and bid package preparation.
- Address and resolve issues promptly to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Engage in and potentially lead various committees focused on quality and safety.
- Work with Human Resources to maintain appropriate staffing levels and address employee concerns effectively.
- Champion change initiatives.
- Perform any other assigned duties.
Qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2-4 years of relevant leadership experience.
- Self-motivated and disciplined team player.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Creative problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated urgency and focus on results.
- Solid business and financial understanding.
- Professional demeanor.
- Ability to anticipate business needs and respond proactively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with intermediate Excel skills.
- Experience with supply chain information systems, such as ATA, Paragon, and JD Edwards.
- Willingness to work any shift and schedule due to the 24/7 nature of the operation.
- Must pass post-offer background check and drug screening.
Preferred Experience:
- College degree preferred.
- Experience in food distribution is advantageous.
