The Impact You'll Make

As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you'll design and define cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your role involves simulation support for design validation, optimization, testing, and data collection. You'll provide crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging. In this role, you'll directly contribute to Etch Engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support thermal/flow/structural simulation for design validation and optimization.
  • Conduct detailed analysis including structural, finite element analysis (FEA), thermal, heat transfer, stress, vibrations, fluid and gas flow dynamics, and manufacturability to properly specify designs.
  • Experience with a variety of metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and/or advanced coatings.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with SEMI, Lam standards, and industry best practices for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Develop and conduct feasibility studies and test plans to characterize and validate design performance.
  • Prepare high-quality reports and technical presentations to clearly communicate design intent, evaluation, and validation to a diverse audience in design reviews.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure solutions can be manufactured with high-quality, cost-optimized, and to requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to more junior engineers.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of experience; or Master's degree with 6+ years' experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.
  • Highly proficient in Ansys fluids/mechanical, Simcenter 3D and/or other equivalent tools.
  • Experience with 3D design tools such as CREO, Siemens NX, ProE, SolidWorks, and others.
  • Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Semiconductor industry is a plus.
  • Experience in leading projects, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.
  • Familiar with simulation DOEs and UDF- user define function package.

'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary
CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $98,000.00 - $216,000.00. The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
