Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Orbital Traction Ltd is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing control systems, data acquisition systems, and specialty test equipment.

Job Description

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Designing and developing control systems, data acquisition systems, and specialty test equipment
  • Supporting customer installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting
  • Primary design of project control system software, Matlab/Simulink simulation and modeling, software development, and wiring schematics
  • Primary design of data acquisition system to provide input to the control system and record all system data
  • Interface with 3rd party systems to record data and acquire signals necessary for the control system
  • Participating in testing, modeling, simulation, and analysis of electromechanical control systems and components
  • Analysis of system data to determine control system effectiveness
  • Defining and developing primary control software and interfacing hardware components, including system level design and layout from component level requirements
  • Design of electronics, electronic interfaces, and communication with Modbus industrial systems and J1939 engine control systems
  • Reviewing, developing, and commenting on technical documentation (requirements, CAD files, test plans/reports, technical review documents, engineering change documents)
  • Providing technical support to vendor base as necessary and participating in vendor selection and meetings as necessary
  • Developing testing requirements and participating in testing as necessary to ensure compliance
  • Development of independent analytical models and analysis tools
  • Tasks will involve interaction with other technical disciplines, working as part of a team
  • Assisting in development of technical proposals and cost estimates in support of new business

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and 0-7 years of experience in controls and automation system design and simulation. Strong proficiency in model development, simulation, and analysis in Matlab/Simulink is required. Experience with Modbus and SAE J1939 or other CAN bus systems is preferred. Solid understanding of the verification and validation process, including test plan development, system evaluation, data collection, and analysis, is also required. Experience in testing to improve reliability, HALT, HASS testing is a plus. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential. Authorized to work in the United States is a must.
