Golf Course Starter and Ranger

Working Hours: As required. Part-time Seasonal.
Key Responsibilities:
The role encompasses two primary functions: Starter and Ranger.
Starter Responsibilities:- Welcome players to the golf facility.
- Verify that all players are registered and possess valid receipts for their game.
- Ensure that each participant is dressed appropriately and has their own set of clubs, along with non-metal spikes.
- Provide an overview of the day's conditions and any special requests to each group.
- Monitor and maintain the starting rotation to prevent delays.
- Ensure proper intervals between tee times to avoid congestion on the course.
- Facilitate pairing of players to optimize course efficiency.
- Assist the golf shop team in organizing and managing special events and outings.
- Supervise play as it passes the starter's area towards the eighth tee.
- Maintain an adequate supply of scorecards and pencils at the starter's station.
- Keep constant radio communication with the golf shop for operational effectiveness.
- Ensure adherence to the pace of play and enforce golf course regulations.
- Maintain a safe distance for carts from tees and greens, following all signage.
- Enforce daily play restrictions as necessary.
- Limit cart occupancy to two riders and two bags.
- Prohibit unlicensed children from operating golf carts.
- Encourage players to repair divots and ball marks on greens.
- Assist in locating lost balls and maintaining the flow of play.
- Ensure children under 12 are accompanied by an adult, especially during busy times.
- Occasionally allow fivesomes with prior approval from professional staff.
- Ensure non-playing observers do not interfere with play.
- Maintain ongoing radio communication with the starter and golf shop.
- Familiarity with the fundamentals of golf to avoid disrupting players.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, and cold.
- Capacity to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively.
- Willingness to follow directions from supervisors.
This position may involve physical activities such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods. Candidates should be prepared to lift weights up to 85 lbs occasionally and 50 lbs frequently. This job description is not exhaustive and may include other related duties as assigned.
