Job Summary

The City of Grand Rapids is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for providing police services to the community, enforcing laws and ordinances, and engaging with citizens to build trust and improve relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol city streets to provide protection and safety to citizens
  • Enforce laws and ordinances, and respond to emergency situations
  • Conduct interviews and investigations to gather information and evidence
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations to address public safety concerns
  • Participate in training and professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices and procedures
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a Michigan driver's license by date of hire
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have some experience communicating with people in various situations
  • Must meet initial employment requirements established by the Civil Service Board
  • Must pass the Grand Rapids Civil Service Exam for Police Officers
