Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Department Technician to join our team at Fairview Lakes Medical Center. As an ERT, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our emergency department staff.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Care:
    • Transport patients using wheelchairs and carts.
    • Aid patients with ambulation and positioning.
    • Communicate with RNs regarding patient observations and concerns.
    • Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests.
    • Show concern for patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
    • Perform tasks with adaptations or modifications consistent with patients' ages and developmental abilities.
    • Acquire ordered specimens from patients and transport specimens and blood products.
    • Demonstrate adherence to accurate procedures.
    • Assist in resuscitation efforts.
    • Support nurses with patient care activities.
  • Documentation:
    • Document patient care activities and procedures clearly, concisely, accurately, and timely on nursing records.
  • Maintains Room/Unit and Supplies:
    • Restock room, supplies, and carts.
    • Assist with patient room clean-up between patients.
    • Complete room and cart checklists.
    • Perform quality control checks on designated pieces of equipment and complete quality control checklists.
Qualifications
  • License/Certification/Registration:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required upon hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • AND ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:
  1. Current EMT or ERT certification required upon hire (does not need to be maintained throughout employment).
  2. Current Paramedic Certification required upon hire (does not need to be maintained throughout employment).
  3. Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry required upon hire (does not need to be maintained throughout employment).
  4. Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program with completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program.
  5. Six months of recent direct patient care experience in an acute care, long-term care, or home care setting.
  6. Successful completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program.
  7. LPN licensure upon hire (this licensure does not need to be maintained throughout employment).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience:
    • Previous Emergency Room experience as an Emergency Room Scribe, paramedic, ERT, EMT, EDT, or ED EMS.
    • Current CNA or NST experience.
  • License/Certification/Registration:
    • Paramedic, EMT, ERT, LPN, CNA, PCA.
