About the Role

The Brown University Library is seeking a highly collaborative and creative library professional to assume the E-Resources Discovery and Access Librarian position. This role is critical to maintaining Brown's significant investment in electronic scholarly resources, including e-books, e-journals, databases, and streaming media.

This position will be responsible for managing the Library's enhancement and maintenance of e-resources metadata to support and maximize e-resource discovery in the Brown University Library Alma/Primo environment. The successful candidate will also manage and develop local workflows for providing and maintaining quality metadata for our electronic resources.

The E-Resources Discovery and Access Librarian will provide leadership and expertise for establishing and maintaining stable and consistent online access to e-resources through coordination and leadership of e-resource troubleshooting, engaging subject librarians, vendors, and staff in the process. Reporting to the Director of Resource Acquisitions, this position is responsible for providing leadership and supervision for the Senior Library Expert–Data Management, whose role is developing assessment metrics for electronic resources.

This position will be hired at a Librarian II rank in the Brown University Library's Program for Library Professionals, a professional development program whose aim is to support the advancement of career professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Library's enhancement and maintenance of e-resources metadata to support and maximize e-resource discovery in the Brown University Library Alma/Primo environment.
  • Develop and implement local workflows for providing and maintaining quality metadata for our electronic resources.
  • Provide leadership and expertise for establishing and maintaining stable and consistent online access to e-resources.
  • Coordinate and lead e-resource troubleshooting efforts, engaging subject librarians, vendors, and staff as needed.
  • Supervise the Senior Library Expert–Data Management and provide leadership and guidance on developing assessment metrics for electronic resources.
Requirements
  • MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent experience and training.
  • Successful experience in staff supervision and training in a library environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience and demonstrated proficiency with current and emerging practices for electronic resource access and discovery.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the current landscape for user security, privacy, and identity management for electronic resources.
  • Knowledge of discovery and access best practices for e-resources of all kinds.
  • Excellence in verbal and written communication, interpersonal interactions, and working closely with diverse collaborators.
