Job Title: Unit Clerk/Unit Assistant Part Time Evenings

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Clerk/Unit Assistant to join our team at Morton Hospital. As a Unit Clerk/Unit Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our ICU department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate unit activity and serve as the main point of contact between the unit and transport, ancillaries, and physicians.
  • Answer all calls by identifying the department and name, and maintain a list of phone numbers of physicians in the area.
  • Maintain and update physician pager numbers monthly for nurses, and report any telephone problems to communications.
  • Monitor that all patients have proper arm bands on, and maintain stock of lab/x-ray requisitions for downtime.
  • Report printer and computer problems to the help desk, and inform the Director/Supervisor.
Provides and Tracks Data:
  • Page to MD and response, discharge information, and other data as requested for the flow of the department.
  • Orders and maintains accurate par levels for inventories.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe environment and intervenes in the proper procedures and addresses patients' concerns by notifying the charge nurse, Director.
Management of Time and Resources:
  • Completes work assignments within an acceptable time frame, and uses time and resources to the best possible advantage for successful completion of job responsibilities.
  • Develops and maintains efficient working practices, and recognizes the importance of team efforts and partners with others to achieve positive outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Demonstrates computer knowledge, knowledge of medical terminology, and customer service skills.
  • High School Education, and ability to assist lifting and carrying up to 20lbs.
