Job Overview:

The Housekeeper plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of resident living spaces, communal areas, and operational zones. This position involves performing laundry services for both residents and the facility, adhering to established protocols and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly clean resident apartments as instructed, including:
    • Bathrooms: sanitizing toilets, showers, sinks, mirrors, and floors.
    • Bedrooms: changing linens, washing, drying, folding, and making beds with fresh linens.
    • Kitchens: cleaning countertops, sinks, and floors, and wiping down appliances.
    • Common Areas: dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and removing trash.
  • Maintain cleanliness in public and work areas, including:
    • Restrooms: ensuring toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors are clean.
    • Carpets: vacuuming, shampooing, and deodorizing.
    • Floors: sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, and disinfecting.
    • Walls and ceilings: washing, dusting, and spot cleaning.
  • Dispose of waste properly and ensure trash receptacles are lined appropriately.
  • Prepare and secure housekeeping carts, ensuring all cleaning supplies are stored safely.
  • Complete laundry and ironing tasks as assigned for both residents and the community.
  • Maintain assigned areas in a clean, safe, and appealing manner, free from hazards.
  • Utilize appropriate protective gear when handling cleaning agents and hazardous materials.
  • Adhere to safety protocols when mixing and using cleaning solutions, following manufacturer guidelines.
  • Report any safety concerns regarding cleaning supplies to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Implement infection control measures and follow established safety practices.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience in housekeeping or janitorial services is preferred.
  • Ability to operate standard cleaning equipment safely.
  • Knowledge of assisted living and dementia care practices is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with seniors and individuals with cognitive impairments.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Must obtain and maintain valid first aid and food handlers certifications as required.
  • Physical capability to perform job duties and maintain good health, verified by a health screening.
