Job Title: Senior Design Engineer

Microsoft Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our dynamic Silicon team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge silicon systems that power our innovative products.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop high-performance silicon systems, including microarchitecture specification, RTL design, synthesis, and SOC integration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architecture, verification, and physical design, to ensure design implementation and verification.
  • Develop and maintain Intellectual Property (IP) and Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC)/System on Chip (SOC) designs.
  • Work on Digital Design, including microarchitecture specification development, RTL coding in Verilog/System Verilog, and Clock Domain Crossing (CDC)/Lint closure.
  • Experience in Synthesis, Timing constraints, Power, Performance, Area (PPA) trade-offs, and Post-Silicon Debug.
  • Designing Fabric/Network On Chip or Networking Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) or Complex Control Logic.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of related technical engineering experience.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience or internship experience.
  • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience or internship experience.
  • OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience delivering successful Intellectual Property (IP) or ASIC/SOC designs.
  • 4+ years expertise in Digital Design, including microarchitecture specification development, RTL coding in Verilog/System Verilog, and Clock Domain Crossing (CDC)/Lint closure.
  • 4+ years of experience in Synthesis, Timing constraints, Power, Performance, Area (PPA) trade-offs, and Post-Silicon Debug.
  • 4+ experience in Designing Fabric/Network On Chip or Networking ASICs or Complex Control Logic.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 12+ years technical engineering experience.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience.
  • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience.
  • OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience.
  • Understanding of ASIC tape outs in deep sub-micron technologies.
  • Experienced on a variety of micro-architecture areas, such as Complex Control Paths, Memory hierarchies, and standard industry interfaces, such as Advanced extensible Interface (AXI).
  • Ability and willingness to adapt and lead/work on a variety of designs.
  • Experience with Python or Perl scripting.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to facilitate collaboration across Microsoft internal groups and external vendors.

Compensation: The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
