Position Title: Automation Technician II (DDC)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct testing, inspection, adjustment, troubleshooting, and diagnosis of dampers, actuators, sensors, valves, and other automation components with precision.
  • Identify mechanical equipment and associated automation components on schematics for chillers, boilers, pumps, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), variable air volume (VAV) systems, etc.
  • Comprehend basic electrical control circuits, including 24VAC/DC power and controller input/outputs.
  • Collaborate with the service department to procure replacement materials, ensuring timely delivery and installation.
  • Create schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to document modifications or alterations made to instruments, circuits, and systems for service records.
  • Monitor, identify, and diagnose potential issues using computer workstations and on-site evaluations.
  • Stay informed about industry advancements, integrating new technologies and best practices into your work to improve the efficiency of building automation systems.
  • Be prepared to work rotating weekends and be on call to respond to emergency service requests promptly.

Job Specifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, including at least two years as an automation technician.
  • Strong knowledge of building automation system networks and protocols for effective problem diagnosis and resolution.
  • Relevant certifications in Niagara and Distech Controls are required.
  • Technical expertise in electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and programming is essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear and professional interactions with clients and team members.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify issues, propose viable solutions, and implement necessary changes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, providing technical support to colleagues as needed.
  • Willingness to adapt to evolving technologies and methodologies within the dynamic field of building automation systems.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.
