Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Community Resource Advocate II to join our team at Community Action Organization. In this role, you will be responsible for providing essential support to low-income households in Washington County by allocating utility assistance resources effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct phone-based or face-to-face interviews with low-income households to assess their eligibility for utility assistance programs.
  • Screen households for eligibility and schedule appointments as necessary.
  • Determine eligibility and process payments for various programs, including LIHEAP, LIHWA, OEAP, and OREF, while navigating complex funding sources.
  • Negotiate with utility companies to prevent disconnects, restore service, or guarantee bulk fuel delivery.
  • Accurately enter information into statewide client databases to capture statistical data and generate authorized payments.
  • Maintain real-time, accurate, complete, and confidential records, including client identification documents, billing records, and income eligibility documents.
  • Collect and enter information into multiple systems of record or databases with high accuracy.
  • Provide resource information on energy conservation, utility policy, payment plans, and other community resources as needed.
  • Engage in outreach activities to educate and share client services with low-income households.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalency with a minimum of six months customer service experience.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English, both written and verbal.
  • Intermediate computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and software programs.
  • Experience completing data entry with accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree or higher in Social Services or a directly related field.
  • Knowledge of Washington County community resources.
  • Experience interviewing clients and assessing needs, providing appropriate information and referrals, and advocating on behalf of clients.
