Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Manager to join our team at US Foods, Inc. As a key member of our Transportation department, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient transportation of goods, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and leading a team of drivers and associates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead with a safety-first mindset, ensuring the well-being of all associates, customers, and the general public.
  • Develop and implement safety procedures, processes, and training to maintain a safety-first culture in the Transportation department.
  • Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation associates through coaching, training, and problem resolution.
  • Direct and supervise the work and productivity of drivers and clerical associates within the Transportation department.
  • Build high-performing teams by participating in interviewing and hiring Transportation personnel, reviewing performance, and delivering disciplinary action.
  • Monitor production goals, maintain a zero-error attitude, and ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and stop waste, improve processes, and complete work more safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct routine Safety and Driver Meetings, oversee maintenance of driver qualification files, and investigate accidents.
Requirements
  • Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce required.
  • Experience as a driver a plus.
  • Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods, and procedures.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and people development skills.
  • Strong understanding of DOT requirements, familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
  • Basic computer skills.
Work Environment

This role may require significant travel, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training. The work environment may involve exposure to noise and vibration levels higher than those typically experienced in passenger cars.
