Electrical Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at PVI Holdings, Inc. as a key member of our engineering department.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating electrical systems and associated equipment. This will involve applying fundamental knowledge of electrical engineering principles to ensure that systems and components meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design control systems to meet customer specifications and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Conduct vessel surveys and provide system equipment estimations during the quoting phase
  • Create system drawings and documentation to support shipyard installations using AutoCAD
  • Familiar with PCB design, layout, and assembly
  • Submit and support documentation during ABS/USCG certification review
  • Write System Manuals, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, and Periodic Test Procedures
  • Support programming and production departments during construction and in-house system testing
  • Provide technical support for service department personnel during vessel commissioning
  • Ensure technical support for ABS and USCG system compliance
  • Communicate with customers throughout all development phases to ensure expectations are met
  • Familiar with operation of electrical test equipment
Requirements
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience: 2+ Years preferred
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts to practical situations
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Work Environment

The work environment is typically moderate, with occasional exposure to noise and physical demands. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and be able to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. They will be able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
