Key Responsibilities
Core Duties:

- Evaluate, analyze, and manage all files as necessary to prepare them for underwriter approval. This includes obtaining, entering, verifying, and updating data in relevant software applications related to: applicant eligibility, credit evaluations, employment verification, income assessment, asset documentation, tax information, insurance details, collateral appraisals, flood certifications, lender and third-party fees, rate locking, title documentation, HMDA compliance, and Adverse Actions.
- Engage proactively with members in a dynamic environment, both verbally and in writing, to update applicants on loan progress, gather additional information and documentation, and coordinate event scheduling.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders (members, underwriters, closers, appraisers, attorneys, and other service providers) to obtain necessary services and resolve issues while adhering to established departmental timelines for pipeline management.
- Ensure that all loan notifications and disclosures are complete, accurate, and distributed to applicants promptly as required.
- Pre-underwrite and process loans in accordance with Automated Underwriting System (AUS) feedback certificates and secondary market standards.
- Maintain current knowledge of secondary market guidelines, product and pricing updates, and DCU policies and procedures.
- Stay informed about compliance regulations relevant to first mortgage loan originations, including but not limited to: Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Regulation Z (Truth In Lending, Know Before You Owe), Regulation C (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act - HMDA), and other applicable state and federal laws.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of all credit union products and services to facilitate cross-selling opportunities to members or potential members.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant state and federal laws and regulations.
- Review purchase and sale agreements, order mortgage insurance when necessary, enforce rate lock and extension policies, and perform other first mortgage-related processing tasks.
- Carry out additional job-related responsibilities as assigned by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of experience in mortgage or a related field.
- Proficient in technical skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Strong professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Compliance with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and all related regulations is required.
