Job Title: I&E Shop Technician II

Job Summary:

The I&E Shop Technician II will assist the I&E Shop Technical Supervisor in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the I&E Shop. The successful candidate will work with other technicians to ensure the run out of low and medium voltage panels, assist with coordination of repairs and maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Panel Assembly:
    • Build, wire control panels based on engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
    • Ensure panels meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Component Selection:
    • Ensure appropriate electrical and electronics components, including sensors, relays, switches, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), for panel assembly.
    • Evaluate and select components based on functionality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Wiring and Termination:
    • Safely and accurately wire panels, ensuring proper termination, grounding, and insulation.
    • Follow established wiring diagrams and schematics, maintaining high-quality workmanship throughout the process.
  • Quality Control:
    • Implement stringent quality control measures to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of the assembled panels.
    • Identify components and finished panels to maintain the highest standards of workmanship.
  • Testing and Troubleshooting:
    • Conduct thorough testing of completed panels to ensure functionality and reliability.
    • Identify and troubleshoot any issues, making necessary adjustments and repairs.
  • Documentation:
    • Create and maintain detailed documentation, assembly procedures, and test records.
    • Ensure accurate and comprehensive records are kept for future reference.
  • Assist I&E Technical Supervisor:
    • Scheduling repairs and maintenance and calibration activities within the shop.
    • Ensure timely completion of tasks while maintaining quality standards.
    • Maintaining a clean and organized shop at all times to ensure it is presentable for visitors and safe for employees.
    • Assist with fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
    • In the I&E Technical Supervisor's absence, be able to make decisions and delegate tasks to ensure optimal efficiency and seamless transition.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or coursework in electrical engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in building and wiring electrical control panels for industrial applications.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and electronic components, circuits, and systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and diagrams.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation technologies, including PLCs, HMI devices, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
