Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Technician to join our team at Targa Resources. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing electrical and instrumentation equipment, as well as maintaining and working on control valves and transmitters. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical and instrumentation systems, as well as experience with PLCs and DCS troubleshooting. Additionally, the candidate will be able to work in extreme weather conditions and have a strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to effectively work with minimum supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and instrumentation equipment
• Maintain and work on control valves and transmitters
• Troubleshoot electrical motor starter panels and motor issues
• Read electrical schematics and P&ID's drawings
• Work in extreme weather conditions
• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems
• Troubleshoot electrical systems ranging from 12vdc to 4160 vac
• Use electrical meters and diagnostic tools for troubleshooting electrical systems
• Follow all company safety procedures and lockout and tag out procedures

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1-3 years of related work experience
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Valid driver's license with a safe driving record
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50lbs
• Ability to work in changing climate conditions
• Ability to work in close quarters
• Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines
• Regular and Reliable Attendance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to diagnose PLC problems
• Understanding of PLC code, schematic wiring, and Ladder and P&ID's process diagrams
• Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical control systems and maintain instrumentation systems
• Self-starter with strong communication skills
• Associates degree in electrical/instrumentation or 3 years of experience as an I/E tech in the gas processing industry
