Estimator - Healthcare Construction Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team at Layton Construction. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in preparing estimates for various projects, ensuring cost accuracy, and collaborating with project teams.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare estimates for potential projects, utilizing hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating techniques.
- Read and understand contract documents, including plans, specifications, and addenda.
- Perform quantity take-offs, organize, and price information.
- Solicit bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Communicate with subs and suppliers to clarify pricing information.
- Prepare estimate formats in areas such as general conditions, general bidding, quantity takeoffs, and bid analysis.
- Assist with the preparation of bid proposals for submittal.
- Prepare outline schedules for proposed projects.
- Assist staff members with various special projects related to estimating.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- At least 1 year experience in estimating commercial construction projects, demonstrating competence in hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating.
- Excellent working knowledge of Timberline and Excel software.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to operate office equipment, such as computers, printers, phones, copiers, fax machines, etc.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Appropriate knowledge of construction practices and methods.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Primavera systems preferred.
