As a Fire Alarm and Safety Systems Specialist, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our Smart Buildings. Your primary responsibilities will include servicing, maintaining, and repairing commercial fire alarm and sprinkler systems, as well as other water-based systems. You'll ensure that components are inspected, tested, operated, and maintained according to the customer's operational requirements. In addition to your primary duties, you'll also serve as a mentor, providing on-the-job training to less experienced technicians and fostering a culture of growth and knowledge-sharing within our team.

Our Fire Alarm and Safety Systems Specialists must possess specialized skills, knowledge of state and federal regulations, and a commitment to proper system functioning. As a Fire Alarm and Safety Systems Specialist, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct comprehensive testing, inspections, and repairs of commercial fire alarm systems and/or fire sprinkler systems, including peripheral parts and systems.
  2. Document deficiencies or impairments noted during inspections or service work, create detailed test and inspection reports based on code requirements and customer needs, and follow the required process of reporting deficiencies while on-site.
  3. Rapidly respond to, troubleshoot, and complete necessary repairs to maintain system functionality, reporting on activities completed, deferred, or requiring further action or material.
  4. Identify code and non-conformance issues, ensuring adherence to required standards.
  5. Quote small repair jobs and provide detailed parts and labor requirements to estimators and sales for large repair projects.
  6. Plan work with Lead Technicians and Supervisors to strategize tasks effectively.
  7. Adhere to local, corporate, and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
  8. Maintain complete and accurate documentation of all work performed.
  9. Maintain vehicle stock, tools, and equipment, following corporate policies related to vehicle use and care.

You'll make an impact with these qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  1. 3+ years of experience in the inspections, testing, and/or repair of commercial fire alarm systems, fire sprinkler systems, and/or other water-based equipment.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to differentiate types/colors of wire, use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet, carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted.
  3. Able to work in a variety of environments in and around mechanical equipment, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment, working in ducts, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions, using hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet.
  4. Must obtain NICET Fire Alarm Certification Level 3 within 12 months.
  5. Able to demonstrate the ability to read/understand design and construction documents.
  6. Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations.
  7. Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Associate degree in electronics or related field preferred.
  2. 7+ years of experience in the inspections, testing, and/or repair of commercial fire alarm systems, fire sprinkler systems, and/or other water-based equipment.
