Nuclear Medicine PET CT Technologist

The Nuclear Medicine PET CT Technologist plays a critical role in assisting physicians with the diagnosis and treatment of patients by utilizing radioactive isotopes to perform diagnostic and therapeutic examinations.
Key Responsibilities- Operate current instrumentation and adhere to imaging and radiation protection guidelines.
- Recognize emergency situations and respond according to policy.
- Provide on-call coverage and ensure nuclear medicine and PET CT equipment undergo proper quality control.
- Perform IV line placement, vital sign checks, and document information accurately.
- Provide instruction to nuclear medicine and x-ray student technologists on procedures and policies.
- Consult with nuclear medicine physicians to determine appropriate protocols and procedures.
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals using proper nursing practices and age-appropriate patient care.
- Maintain records for the receiving, dispensing, and disposal of radioactive materials.
- Ensure nuclear medicine equipment operates properly and report malfunctioning equipment for repair.
- Produce and analyze diagnostic images for technical quality and process computerized images.
- Apply radiation protection guidelines to minimize ionizing radiation to patients and staff.
- Associate's degree from an accredited nuclear medicine technology program.
- Registration by ARRT (N) or NMTCB and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Good working knowledge of all aspects of nuclear medicine imaging.
