Corrosion Control Specialist

The 1st Class Corrosion Control Technician will be responsible for surface preparation, application of protective coatings, and installation and maintenance of environmental controls to safely and properly accomplish corrosion control to any and all surfaces as required by Work Specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Surface Preparation: Prepare all types of surfaces for preservation.
- Removal of Existing Coatings: Removes old paint and debris from all types of substrates by; Scraping, Chipping and Sanding.
- Pressure Washing: Operate; 3,000 to 5,000PSI Pressure Washers and wash surfaces to remove grease, rust, scale, and dirt.
- Ultra-High Pressure Water Jetting: Operate 40,000PSI Ultra-High Pressure Water Jetting equipment.
- Coating Application: Mix Solvents and Coatings accurately to formula and apply coatings in accordance with specifications and good marine practice.
- Brush and Roll Painting: Capable of brush and roll painting for passing all inspection processes.
- Confined Space Painting: Be familiar with and exercise proper procedures for; painting in confined spaces.
- Cost Control: Control costs in assigned area of responsibility.
- Independent Work: Complete tasks with little to no supervision.
- C7/C14 Certifications preferred but not required.
- Minimum 5 years of maritime painting and blasting experience.
- DBIDs eligible preferred.
- Must possess a good general knowledge of ship repair procedures and test requirements.
- Must possess a working knowledge of techniques.
- Must have a working knowledge of ship repair terminology and ship compartment naming convention.
- Must be physically and medically capable to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) required for the job as prescribed under OSHA standards.
- PPE may include hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.
- Must be a US Citizen.
