Job Title: Assistant Wastewater Division Manager

Job Summary:

The Assistant Wastewater Division Manager is a key member of the Wastewater Division team, responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operation of the city's wastewater collection and treatment systems. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and train wastewater operators and maintenance personnel to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and city policies.
  • Develop and implement maintenance plans, budgets, and capital improvement projects to ensure the efficient operation of the wastewater system.
  • Collaborate with the Wastewater Division Manager to develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards for the division.
  • Perform wastewater sampling, monitoring, and testing to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Operate and maintain light, medium, and heavy equipment, including pumps, valves, and treatment plant equipment.
  • Assist with emergency response and repair of wastewater system failures.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Eight (8) years of related experience, including two (2) years experience as a Collections Class IV and Treatment Class IV Unrestricted Operator with increasing supervisory experience.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Utah CDL: Class A.
  • Flagging Certification.
  • Forklift Certification.
  • Traffic Control Technician Certification.
  • Unrestricted Wastewater Collection: Class IV.
  • Unrestricted Wastewater Treatment: Class IV.
  • DRC Qualified.
  • IS-100, IS-200, & IS-700 Certifications: Within one year of hire date.
  • Computer skills: Email, Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Must type 30 WPM.
Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, and fumes. The incumbent must be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
