**Responsibilities**

As a caregiver/patient care technician, your responsibilities will include:

  • Administering prescribed medications to residents under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical/vocational nurse.
  • Presenting medication to residents and observing ingestion or administering medication using specified procedures.
  • Taking vital signs or observing residents to detect response to medication, and reporting reactions.
  • Restocking medication inventories.
  • Providing direct patient care and ensuring resident safety by identifying safety hazards and emergency situations and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
