Essential Qualifications:
Prior experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) roles within a manufacturing setting is preferred.
Familiarity with OSHA, MSHA, and DOT regulations.
Detail-oriented with a hands-on approach.
Ability to identify potential safety risks and implement measures to maintain a safe working environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of inspiring and motivating team members.
A positive attitude and high level of self-motivation are essential.
Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities effectively.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Key Responsibilities:
Formulate and execute health and safety strategies in compliance with legal requirements.
Ensure adherence to existing and evolving HSE legislation (federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, and standards).
Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and ensure proper documentation for safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and maintenance of equipment, including machinery and hazardous waste.
ÂOversee the inventory of safety supplies and materials (e.g., eye wash stations, respirators, personal protective equipment).
Conduct thorough investigations and documentation of accidents, incidents, or near misses, followed by the implementation of corrective action plans.
Lead training and development initiatives for staff regarding health and safety protocols (including onboarding, initial, annual, and refresher training) as required.
Provide support and guidance to leadership and both internal and external stakeholders to foster a positive health and safety culture within the organization.
Maintain relationships with relevant regulatory and advisory bodies.Conduct annual inspections of company vehicles, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.
Coordinate with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for necessary employee compliance.
Direct the safety program, including regular safety committee meetings and emergency response team sessions, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of OSHA compliance and other regulatory requirements. Review safety performance metrics regularly.
Keep Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures, as well as Globally Harmonized System (GHS) documentation, current and accessible.
Collaborate with insurance providers, contractors, and vendors as necessary.
Work alongside all staff to guarantee they have the required personal protective equipment, safety tools, and machinery in optimal working condition.
ÂCollaborate with management to document and assess employee safety performance issues and assist in the disciplinary process as needed.
