Job Summary

As an Electrical Engineer III with the City of Fort Collins, you will play a critical role in the planning, design, and operation of the city's electric distribution system. Your expertise will be essential in analyzing circuit loading, phase balancing, and system planning using advanced software tools. You will collaborate with internal staff and regional planning authorities to anticipate changes to system-wide operations and ensure the safety and efficiency of the electric distribution system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform professional engineering work in the design and application of electric utility distribution equipment and installation practices.
  • Prepare and administer contracts with outside agencies to perform various construction activities and install equipment per Utilities Light and Power construction standards.
  • Conduct studies and develop information as needed to determine system design and customer loading guidelines.
  • Coordinate work activities with, and may provide technical support to, other Light and Power projects and personnel.
  • Perform research, studies, and utilize industry knowledge and connections to evaluate materials, equipment, and procedures for safety, reliability, and effectiveness.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Eight years of progressively responsible engineering experience in an electric utility.
  • Professional Engineering license desirable.

The City of Fort Collins offers a competitive salary range of $83,000 to $139,000, paid biweekly.
