This position is open to all United States citizens and U.S. nationals. The selected candidate will work as an Electrical Engineer at a hydroelectric powerplant, performing operations and maintenance (O&M) and electrical engineering work. The role involves designing, repairing, testing, or modifying electrical equipment or systems, as well as working with control circuits, relay and protection circuits, electrical generation and motor equipment, program logic controllers and computerized control equipment, communication equipment, meters, sensors, governors, or auxiliary equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform O&M and electrical engineering work at a hydroelectric powerplant.
- Design, repair, test, or modify electrical equipment or systems.
- Work with control circuits, relay and protection circuits, electrical generation and motor equipment, program logic controllers and computerized control equipment, communication equipment, meters, sensors, governors, or auxiliary equipment.
- Provide technical recommendations and reviews of capital improvement engineering projects.
- Assist in preventative maintenance activities in compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation/Western Electricity Coordinating Council (NERC/WECC) rules.
- Perform project management activities and ensure budget and schedule goals are met.
- Be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national.
- Be suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation.
- Submit a resume and supporting documentation.
- Meet any minimum education and/or experience requirements.
- Submit transcript(s) to verify education requirements.
- Maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times.
- Pass a pre-employment physical examination by a licensed physician.
To be eligible for consideration, you must meet the Basic Education Requirement for this position, having a degree in engineering or a related field. You must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in responsibility and scope to the GS-11 grade level in Federal service or its non-Federal equivalent.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
EducationThis position has a mandatory education requirement. You must submit a copy of college transcript(s) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include the name of the college or university and date the degree was conferred.
You will be required to provide official college transcripts to verify educational qualifications, if selected. An official transcript must be sent directly from the University's Registrar's office and must be provided from the institution awarding the degree.
