Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Scientist to join our team at the Department of Pesticide Regulation. As an Environmental Scientist, you will play a critical role in protecting human health and the environment by developing and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies for pesticides.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather and analyze environmental and human health data to identify potential risks associated with pesticide exposure.
  • Develop and implement mitigation measures to reduce unacceptable human health exposure to pesticides.
  • Conduct field studies and scientific investigations to provide missing data on human health exposure issues associated with pesticides.
  • Prepare clear and accurate documents and reports to support mitigation efforts.
  • Participate in outreach and training programs to educate stakeholders on pesticide safety and risk mitigation.
  • Evaluate and improve existing risk mitigation strategies and programs.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in environmental science, toxicology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental science, risk assessment, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions
  • Viewing a computer monitor for up to 6 hours a day.
  • Working in a high-rise building.
  • Lifting office and/or field equipment up to 20 pounds.
  • Willingsness to travel to conduct field work throughout California.
  • Occasional overnight travel is required.
  • Occasional work outside in varying temperatures.
