As a member of our department, you will play a key role in supporting the compensation function through the design, development, and ongoing evaluation of our organization-wide compensation initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engage with client teams on compensation-related issues concerning offers, promotions, retention strategies, and adjustments for internal equity and market alignment.
- Work closely with stakeholders to assess and authorize position reclassifications, ensuring compliance with FLSA regulations and alignment with the City of Charlotte's job framework and applicable pay structures.
- Contribute to annual salary planning efforts and participate in compensation surveys to gather and analyze competitive salary data, determining the City of Charlotte's standing in the market. Conduct tailored salary surveys and review compensation practices of other municipalities.
- Provide management with recommendations regarding new compensation policies and procedures.
- Assist in the planning and communication of all compensation-related programs.
- Prepare educational materials, presentations, and reports to inform and train designated client groups on classification and compensation matters.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state compensation legislation (e.g., FLSA, EEO).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with integrated HR/Payroll systems such as Workday or Oracle.
- Familiarity with market pricing tools like Market Pay.
- Certification as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) is preferred.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with five years of relevant experience, or an Associate's Degree with three years of relevant experience.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in compensation, classification, and analytics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of statistical formulas, VLOOKUP, and pivot tables.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to interpret complex compensation data and communicate findings clearly and concisely.
- Well-organized, capable of working independently, yet a strong team player.
