Job Responsibilities

The Hot Oil Unit Operator at Select Water Solutions is tasked with the safe operation of a hot oil unit, which includes a high-pressure pump and burner for fluid heating. The operator is responsible for completing all necessary documentation, including vehicle inspection reports and daily logs, in compliance with DOT regulations, and must possess a solid understanding of Federal Motor Carrier regulations.

Key Duties Include:

  • Complying with company policies and operational requirements.
  • Driving vehicles with a capacity exceeding 3 tons.
  • Utilizing controls to operate high-pressure pumps and burners for fluid heating.
  • Circulating hot oil or water through flowlines, tubing, and casing to eliminate paraffin buildup.
  • Testing the integrity of tubing and casing using high-pressure pumps.
  • Monitoring job activities and conditions through equipment gauges and hand signals.
  • Transporting and connecting hoses and pipes from the truck to the designated site.
  • Ensuring that vehicles are well-maintained and in optimal working condition.
  • Completing daily vehicle inspection reports as mandated by DOT regulations.
  • Promptly reporting any issues to the supervisor and performing minor repairs as needed.
  • Understanding basic maintenance concepts to effectively repair and adjust equipment.
  • Accurately completing paperwork such as timesheets and load records, and submitting them to the supervisor.
  • Conducting all field operations safely and efficiently.
  • Maintaining and operating all company equipment and property, with a willingness to work overtime.
  • Demonstrating reliable attendance and participating in all required safety meetings.
  • Engaging in various job-related training sessions to comply with company safety procedures.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a CDL A driver.
  • Possession of a valid CDL A license.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Tanker and HazMat endorsements are preferred.
  • Compliance with all Federal Motor Carrier D.O.T. requirements and safety standards.
  • Current D.O.T. medical certification.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Ability to read and interpret driving routes, safety regulations, and operational manuals.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Capability to pass D.O.T. pre-employment physical examinations.
  • Flexibility to work night or weekend shifts as required.
  • Attention to detail, particularly concerning safety protocols.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • CDL certification from an accredited driving school, with one year of relevant driving experience; experience may be considered in lieu of certification.
  • Experience in the energy sector is advantageous.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions, including rain, extreme heat, and cold, as well as near moving machinery.
  • Exposure to noise levels that require hearing protection.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 50 lbs independently.
