Controller Job Description

Gorsuch is seeking an experienced Controller to join our team of retail professionals. As a critical member of our accounting department, you will work closely with our dedicated and professional team to support our multiple stores and online luxury retail business.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and financial management, with experience in managing day-to-day operations, audit and sales/use tax management, and GAAP accounting practices. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of several staff accountants, including AP, bank and credit card reconciliations, asset management, and sales/use tax management.

You will also be responsible for managing balance sheet reconciliations and related journal entries, ensuring all transactions and accounts are in compliance with GAAP. Additionally, you will manage the annual audit, including coordination of timing, work, and requests from third-party auditors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of several staff accountants

  • Analyze variances to budget to develop corrective action
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required
  • CPA a plus
  • 4+ years progressive accounting experience required
  • 2+ years audit experience preferred
  • GAAP accounting experience required
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with GP Dynamics software preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Word
