Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Comprehensive Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments to diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders in students.
  • Develop Individualized Treatment Plans: Create and implement tailored treatment plans to address students' specific needs and goals.
  • Provide Effective Therapy: Deliver high-quality therapy sessions to improve students' speech, language, and communication skills.
  • Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Teams: Work closely with teachers, parents, and school staff to support students' educational goals and objectives.
  • Participate in IEP Meetings: Contribute to the development of students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and participate in IEP meetings.
  • Monitor Progress and Adjust Plans: Regularly monitor students' progress and adjust therapy plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Provide Training and Resources: Offer training and resources to teachers and parents to support students' communication development and academic success.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Maintain accurate and confidential records of all assessments, therapy sessions, and progress monitoring.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology: Possess a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Maryland License: Hold a valid Maryland license or be eligible for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC): Possess a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Experience Working with Children: Have experience working with children in a school setting, preferably.
  • Strong Knowledge of Speech and Language Assessment Tools: Possess strong knowledge of speech and language assessment tools, intervention strategies, and special education laws and regulations.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to Work Collaboratively: Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and diverse stakeholders.

Licensure and Certification Requirements:

  • Valid Maryland License: Hold a valid Maryland license or be eligible for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist issued by the Maryland State Board of Examiners for Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers, and Speech-Language Pathologists.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC): Possess a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA.
  • Maryland Department of Education Certification: Hold Maryland Department of Education certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the public schools.
  • Commitment to Ongoing Professional Development: Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to ethical standards set by ASHA and the Maryland State Board of Examiners for Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers, and Speech-Language Pathologists.
