Job Overview:
As a Customer Service Specialist I, you will engage in a range of advanced technical and routine administrative tasks essential for the daily operations of the Defined Contribution Savings Plans, including 401(k), 457(b), traditional IRAs, and Roth IRAs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to incoming calls to inform and guide members on tax-advantaged investment options within the URS Savings Plans.
- Provide in-person consultations to plan participants visiting the URS office, explaining plan details, available options, and potential implications related to investments.
- Efficiently process participant applications for various transactions, including withdrawals, loans, and conversions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Act as a cashier for the department, managing payments and reconciling financial records.
- Investigate and resolve customer inquiries received through various channels, escalating issues to supervisors when necessary.
- Contribute to special projects, such as updating departmental materials or researching retirement-related topics.
- Provide support to fellow Customer Service Specialists during their absences.
- Maintain confidentiality in all interactions and documentation.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Requires an Associate degree along with two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a call center environment, industry certifications (such as Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)), and familiarity with retirement plans or IRA administration.
