Position Overview: Tax Compliance Specialist

The Tax Compliance Specialist will be responsible for the preparation and filing of federal and state tax returns in accordance with applicable tax regulations. This role involves providing support for financial statement reporting and identifying opportunities for tax savings. Key responsibilities include:

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and submit Federal Corporation/Partnership Tax Returns and State Income/Franchise Tax Returns for multiple entities across various states, addressing any technical issues related to tax software.
  2. Prepare quarterly excise tax returns and manage claims for export tax credits.
  3. Compile and analyze business data from each facility for tax apportionment and allocation purposes.
  4. Estimate and ensure timely payment of federal and state quarterly tax obligations to avoid penalties.
  5. Conduct annual tax provisions, true-ups, and disclosures in financial reports to comply with IAS 12 and address uncertain tax positions.
  6. Stay informed on regulatory updates to maintain tax compliance and identify potential tax savings.
  7. File annual reports for all entities as required.
  8. Maintain organized tax data in working papers and electronic files.
  9. Assist with federal and state tax audits as needed.
  10. Support various tax projects as assigned.
  11. Perform calculations related to international tax matters, including GILTI and FDII.

Qualifications:

Technical Requirements:
  1. At least one year of experience in accounting or taxation.
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  3. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  4. Familiarity with corptax and/or AS 400 is preferred.
  5. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Taxation.
  6. CPA designation is preferred.
  7. Minimal travel required.
  8. Must demonstrate regular, reliable attendance and the ability to work outside standard hours as necessary.
