Position Overview

The Registered Dietitian is accountable for the nutritional management of patients. This role involves planning, assessing, implementing, and evaluating individualized nutritional care plans. The Dietitian also plays a crucial role in menu adjustments and various nutrition-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • May provide mentorship and training to team members.
Conducts clinical tasks and addresses problems of minimal complexity with accuracy and responsiveness.

  • Engages with patients and/or their families to gather nutritional histories, understand food preferences, assess nutritional needs, and document findings in medical records.


Performs comprehensive nutritional assessments, formulates and executes patient-specific care plans, and collaborates with medical staff to recommend nutrition care plans for review.


  • Advises on therapeutic diet modifications and supplemental feeding options to physicians, ensuring diet orders align with physician directives.
Provides nutritional education, guidance, and counseling to patients and their families, adhering to prescribed dietary plans. Calculates nutrient content for tube feeding and dietary intake as per physician orders.

  • Contributes to menu modifications based on patient preferences and assists in developing standardized recipes while overseeing food service staff in proper food handling and portion control.
Supports clinical operations by assisting team members and management in daily activities.

Facilitates and leads individual and group educational sessions, referring clients to community resources as necessary. Actively participates in and promotes wellness initiatives.

  • Establishes effective communication channels regarding nutrition information within the program and the broader community.
  • Delivers in-service training to culinary, food service, and interdisciplinary teams on therapeutic diets and related subjects.
  • Engages in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement tasks, including data collection and execution of related responsibilities as directed.
  • Addresses or escalates operational challenges and technical issues to senior team members and management; modifies existing tools or processes as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as required. All responsibilities outlined are considered essential functions of the role under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Duties not specified but deemed related are not essential functions.
Qualifications

Master's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required.

Current Registered Dietitian Certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration is mandatory.

Certified Dietitian Nutritionist in New York State (CDN) is preferred.

Advanced or specialized certifications may be required.

1-3 years of relevant experience is necessary.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is $41.09-$54.35/hour. This range represents a good faith estimate of potential base compensation for a successful applicant at the time of this job advertisement and may be adjusted in the future.
